Lecture halls at Mannheim Business School
Mannheim, 2013 - 2018
The semi-circular lecture halls are further accentuated by a raised ceiling, which creates an open feeling of space. From the door to the carpeted floor to the desks and chairs, they are completely red – as a contrast and complementary colour to the green of the palace gardens. A size for up to 60 people with ascending rows of seats was chosen so that even those in the back row are still close to the lectern. The conference room, which can be flexibly configured with sliding doors, and the forum as an additional lounge area are located directly on the glass front facing the palace gardens. The ten break-out rooms are arranged as open niches to the right of the stairs – five a few steps below the lecture halls and another five above, along a gallery with a view over the lecture hall area to the outside. The many glass walls at different heights create a kaleidoscopic view when entering. The rooms appear as if they are set into the surface, as they are only connected to the ceilings by glass walls.
